My goal … as I write the Choice Trilogy, is to document my writing process down to the minute detail. Why? Oh … for fun. 🙂 Actually, I want to see what it takes for me to write three stories-that-are-really-one and to plow through with

My first trilogy with sequels

My first trilogy with sequels

I have to admit that under my other pen name, all my stories are series of three — so trilogies. The difference between this me and my other me is that Emi Gayle stories are coming out as sequels instead of series. What’s the difference?

One ‘beauty’ of the YA genre?

One ‘beauty’ of the YA genre?

Word count. Not sure what that means? Word count refers to the number of words in a novel. Under my adult pen name, I write 80,000 – 100,000 words in per novel. For my YA stories, I shoot for 70,000- 80,000. No matter the story,

I said on 12/3 that I’d post my synopsis — the complete work that came to me in a drive-thru line while waiting for my milkshake (one which was delicious, by the way). Keep in mind that my early synopses don’t always finish out as

Working on a new novel already :)

It’s percolating. That’s what I’m calling ‘working’ in this case. 🙂 In the drive through at Chick-Fil-A the other night, I was looking out through the windshield of my mini-van with my girls in the back singing songs and I remembered a quote that my

First Kiss(es) … ‘the end’ … just as planned

First Kiss(es) … ‘the end’ … just as planned

When I started writing First Kiss(es) … I had an idea, a character, a problem and an ending. Oh yes, i had the ending. The question became though … as I wrote the beginning, the middle and ‘the end’ would the real ‘the end’ include

50,000 words in first person … tada!

50,000 words in first person … tada!

Actually … 64,000 words so far … and counting … and climbing … to be edited, etc. 🙂 I’ve been wanting to write a YA romance for a while, but not under my more explicit pen name of Aimee Laine. So I came up with

Nano ‘Tuesday Teaser’ : First Kiss(es)

Nano ‘Tuesday Teaser’ : First Kiss(es)

Okay … I’ve been asked a couple times and since I just re-read my opening and well … it still grosses me out (yes, yes, weird, I know) … I figured I’d throw it out there to you to decide or wonder or go …

The challenge of writing first person

The challenge of writing first person

Most would think being able to tell a story using the word ‘I’ would be easy. I’m here to tell you it’s by far a greater challenge (to me) than writing 3rd person. For the last 4 days I have spent an hour or 2

1st, 2nd or 3rd? Nov 1, 2010 = 1st

1st, 2nd or 3rd? Nov 1, 2010 = 1st

No, that wasn’t hard math. 🙂 That was me, saying, which ‘person’ shall I write in? Well … most (not all, but most) Young Adult (YA) novels are written in the 1st person (that means that the narrator can say ‘I’ or ‘Me’). As Aimee

My writing process … what’s yours?

My writing process … what’s yours?

As NaNoWriMo looms, you’ve already seen what my story will be about … but how did I come up with it? How will I write it? Those are questions that come up in every writer’s life and are asked by those wanting to write. Some

Novel Synopsis: First Kiss(es)

This is a quick peek into my mind in the planning and preparation for writing First Kiss(es) which will begin on the dot, November 1, 2010 and end November 30, 2010 during NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) in which I am participating as my other
