If you saw it, would you read it? Poison by Bridget Zinn #ReadOrNot
There is more than just a Read Or Not post behind this blog entry today and I encourage you to take a moment to support Bridget Zinn, who at 33 lost her life to cancer while also having her first book published by Disney.
About the front:
This is one of the cutest covers I’ve ever seen. I mean, don’t you wanna just cuddle up with that little biggie at her left ankle? Isn’t he soooo cute? Nothing else about the cover is particularly eye catching, but that little piggie … well, that’s got my eye and enough to want to go … what’s he doing there and how’s he going to play into this book?
Now let’s look at what the back says:
Sixteen-year-old Kyra, a highly-skilled potions master, is the only one who knows her kingdom is on the verge of destruction—which means she’s the only one who can save it. Faced with no other choice, Kyra decides to do what she does best: poison the kingdom’s future ruler, who also happens to be her former best friend.
But, for the first time ever, her poisoned dart…misses.
Now a fugitive instead of a hero, Kyra is caught in a game of hide-and-seek with the king’s army and her potioner ex-boyfriend, Hal. At least she’s not alone. She’s armed with her vital potions, a too-cute pig, and Fred, the charming adventurer she can’t stop thinking about. Kyra is determined to get herself a second chance (at murder), but will she be able to find and defeat the princess before Hal and the army find her?
Kyra is not your typical murderer, and she’s certainly no damsel-in-distress—she’s the lovable and quick-witted hero of this romantic novel that has all the right ingredients to make teen girls swoon.
Does it match? Front to Back without the in between?

Oh no! I sense conflicting interests here. I mean, kill her former best friend because said best friend is going to ruin the kingdom? Say it ain’t so!
But, for the first time ever, her poisoned dart…misses.
Oooh … the first time, huh? Who’s the cause behind that?
Now a fugitive instead of a hero, Kyra is caught in a game of hide-and-seek with the king’s army and her potioner ex-boyfriend, Hal.
I have to laugh … I would never have picked up that this might be a romance!
At least she’s not alone. She’s armed with her vital potions, a too-cute pig, and Fred, the charming adventurer she can’t stop thinking about.
Oooh … it IS a romance! Tada! And there’s the piggie!! Sqeak!
Kyra is determined to get herself a second chance (at murder), but will she be able to find and defeat the princess before Hal and the army find her?
So it’s a race to the end.
Kyra is not your typical murderer, and she’s certainly no damsel-in-distress—she’s the lovable and quick-witted hero of this romantic novel that has all the right ingredients to make teen girls swoon.
Ugh. As everyone knows, I can’t stand when someone infuses their opinion into a blurb. Well … before this, I was totally in. I will say the blurb fits the cover beautifully and that’s what’s so key to this meme!
Will I read it?
I’m very very interested!
