If you saw it, would you read it? Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi #ReadOrNot
About the front:
The first time I saw the cover for this book, I saw a different version and cringed. I actually asked a friend what in the world that was about until she said, ‘No! Look at the other one,’ and this is what I found. Wow. The difference is stunning and this one is soooooooooo engaging. I mean, seriously engaging. This cover rocks. The colors are bright and vivid and vibrant. The girls is strong and gives this sensation that she’s got it all going on. Whatever’s going on behind her … it’s as if she couldn’t care less. Cocky. Powerful. This is really cool. I love it.
Now let’s look at what the back says:
Aria is a teenager in the enclosed city of Reverie. Like all Dwellers, she spends her time with friends in virtual environments, called Realms, accessed through an eyepiece called a Smarteye. Aria enjoys the Realms and the easy life in Reverie. When she is forced out of the pod for a crime she did not commit, she believes her death is imminent. The outside world is known as The Death Shop, with danger in every direction.
As an Outsider, Perry has always known hunger, vicious predators, and violent energy storms from the swirling electrified atmosphere called the Aether. A bit of an outcast even among his hunting tribe, Perry withstands these daily tests with his exceptional abilities, as he is gifted with powerful senses that enable him to scent danger, food and even human emotions.
They come together reluctantly, for Aria must depend on Perry, whom she considers abarbarian, to help her get back to Reverie, while Perry needs Aria to help unravel the mystery of his beloved nephew’s abduction by the Dwellers. Together they embark on a journey challenged as much by their prejudices as by encounters with cannibals and wolves. But to their surprise, Aria and Perry forge an unlikely love – one that will forever change the fate of all who live UNDER THE NEVER SKY
The first book in a captivating trilogy, Veronica Rossi’s enthralling debut sweeps you into an unforgettable adventure
Does it match? Front to Back without the in between?
Um … so I never expected it to be Sci-Fi. Is it? Or is this Urban Fantasy? Obviously, there’s romance. I never, ever would have pegged this kind of story for this cover, but I’m totally intrigued. It kinda has everything that I like. Girl. Boy. Love. Situations that suck and something that’s going to bring them together. Isn’t that the goal? For me at least it is … get to a happily ever after, I just don’t know if this one will have an HEA or not. And this is the first of 3, so I’ll be looking out for the cover on the others, too. I hope they are just as intriguing.
Where I’d read it
Somewhere I can focus because with sci-fi and fantasy, I have to be able to really focus. 🙂
