If you saw it, would you read it? The Dead & The Gone by Susan Beth Pfeffer #ReadOrNot

About the front:
Sci/Fi? At first glance, that’s what this book says. I love the yellows and blues and green. I love the huge ‘rock’ hovering over the city, the birds taking flight, the empty road. There are so many possibilities in this cover. It could be scary. It could be actiony. It could be totally off the wall. I’m absolutely drawn into it with this scene though because I’m thinking apocalypse and aliens and dark, deep times.

Now let’s look at what the back says:

Susan Beth Pfeffer’s Life as We Knew It enthralled and devastated readers with its brutal but hopeful look at an apocalyptic event–an asteroid hitting the moon, setting off a tailspin of horrific climate changes. Now this harrowing companion novel examines the same events as they unfold in New York City, revealed through the eyes of seventeen-year-old Puerto Rican Alex Morales. When Alex’s parents disappear in the aftermath of tidal waves, he must care for his two younger sisters, even as Manhattan becomes a deadly wasteland, and food and aid dwindle.
With haunting themes of family, faith, personal change, and courage, this powerful new novel explores how a young man takes on unimaginable responsibilities.

Does it match? Front to Back without the in between?
I’m sorry, folks, but I HATE book blurbs like this. TELL ME ABOUT THE BOOK! Don’t tell me how zillions of people loved it. TELL ME ABOUT THE BOOK! In all those words, I only get this little tiny blip. I don’t want the themes. I don’t want to know what other people thought. That’s what reviews are for. I want to know what the main plot is. I want to know what the major conflict is for this Alex dude. You could have really sucked me in, but I’m being SOLD to and thus, really turned off. Sorry, but this one no longer gets put on my list. 🙁

Where I’d read it
Not sure I will. I really need more about the story.
